About the project

Research revealed that more than three-quarters of business leaders from sports organisations believe that improving engagement and delivering new, innovative fan experiences as key to their future success.

Vodafone tasked us to create an interactive physical space where they could officially launch and showcase their latest innovative 5G technology.

One key objective of this ‘innovation hub’, was to provide an immersive opportunity for businesses to collaborate, experience and understand the potential of Vodafone’s latest game-changing technology.

Identifying the problem

The challenge

The main challenges I faced when delivering this project was the extremely short amount of time I had to deliver and create the innovation hub — and the fact that it would be situated in an existing (and rather dated) space.

Vodafone required not only a permanent space to showcase their technology, but they also needed it to cater for other uses such as a hospitality space for sports events or a networking and presentation space for conferences/events. This meant that the ‘innovation hub’ needed to be flexible, adaptable, and innovative.

The solution

Working to a tight four-week deadline, the innovation hub was completed in time for the official launch by careful planning and prioritisation. I helped executed the interior design and digital interactions that showcased Vodafone’s technology.

The final space included demonstration areas, a flexible meeting space (that could be dialled up or down according to meeting size) and fun, interactive areas where businesses could get involved and ‘play’ with the technology first-hand.

Presentation screens and collaboration boards were placed throughout to allow Vodafone to personalise the space according to their business needs. This flexibility was key to creating a cohesive environment and a space that Vodafone could ultimately control and adapt according to their needs.

Despite facing the challenges of tight time delivery timeframe, the innovation hub was successfully delivered within the four-week deadline, ensuring it was ready for Vodafone's official launch.

Through meticulous planning, collaboration, and a creative execution, I was able to create a versatile space that – although constrained to one room – had distinct ‘zones’ that delivered a first-hand customer experience.

The Vodafone Business Lounge successfully showcased the power of 5G, creating an immersive space for businesses to explore its potential and drive innovation. Strengthening Vodafone’s position as a leader in business connectivity, it also fostered valuable partnerships and future opportunities.

This project demonstrated how design, technology, and strategy can come together to create a seamless and meaningful user journey—one that leaves a lasting impression.

Recognised for its impact, the initiative won Silver in the B2B Marketing Awards for ‘Best Customer Experience Initiative’, highlighting its success in delivering an engaging and forward-thinking experience.
